Cat vitamins: what your feline really needs
Understanding essential nutrients and when supplements actually help your cat.
A balanced complete cat food already contains the vitamins and minerals most cats need, so supplements are rarely necessary for a healthy adult. Over-supplementing fat-soluble vitamins like A and D can actually harm your cat.
Supplements make sense in specific cases: kittens with poor growth, seniors, pregnant queens, or cats recovering from illness. Taurine, omega-3s and joint support are the most commonly recommended. Always confirm the dose with your vet before starting.
